Looking for some insight on what it’s like to buy or sell homes in Chattanooga, TN? We sat down with Ken and Tara Tolbert, Chattanooga New Again Houses® franchise owners, to get their unique perspective on buying and selling homes in Chattanooga and surrounding areas.

Meet our Chattanooga, Tennessee experts:

After pursuing separate careers for over a decade, Ken and Tara moved back to their hometown of Bristol, TN, where they began renting their own home on Airbnb. They were instantly hooked—and this led them to managing multiple short-term rentals with great success. They realized they had finally found their joint entrepreneurial venture—and Chattanooga New Again Houses was born. In addition to being the franchise owners of Chattanooga New Again Houses, Ken is a project manager at T&B Contractors, and Tara is a realtor with The Wilson Agency.

What’s the one thing you are most proud of?

Owning our local franchise business, Chattanooga New Again Houses, and working it as a family unit has been most rewarding. We have long sought opportunities to work together, and now we have our own business and can do something that’s so rewarding and truly loved. It’s really a dream come true!

What's the one thing you dislike most about having to sell a house?

We seem to fall in love with every house we purchase and remodel, and we would love to keep them all. We realize that’s not realistic, so letting them go can sometimes be the hardest part. We put a lot of pride and joy into our houses, and we know they will make a special home for someone.

What's one of the most memorable projects you've worked on and why?

They all seem to have a special place in our hearts, but our first purchase and remodel is probably the most memorable. It had been abandoned for several years and needed lots of love to transform it back into the perfect home. In a way, it was like a first child. What seemed overwhelming at first was amazing to watch as it was transformed into such an amazing home.

What is your personal guarantee that would make a seller in Chattanooga want to do business with you?

We take great pride in our houses and pay close attention to the details. Every house is a personal investment, and we remodel them with the buyer’s interest in mind. It’s not uncommon for us to even keep some houses for rentals. Tara has a gift for designer selections, incorporating all the latest trends into our renovation finishes.
