New Again Houses® transforms houses into fantastic modern homes that families can enjoy for years to come.
To give you some insight on buying and selling homes in Charlottesville, Virginia and surrounding areas, we sat down with the very first New Again Houses® Franchise Owner, Eric Wilkening, to discuss his unique experience.
New Again Houses® Charlottesville services Albemarle County and the city of Charlottesville Virginia. Other counties they service include Fluvanna County, Louisa County, Orange County, Madison County, Nelson County, Augusta County, and Greene County.
There are 18 neighborhoods in Charlottesville ranging in price points. Venable, for example, is the most expensive neighborhood while more affordable options can be found in Jefferson Park Avenue.
What makes the Central Virginia area unique and special is that it is very close to the mountains, so there are a lot of great outdoor activities, including trail hiking, biking, river rafting, tubing, paddleboarding, horseback riding, skiing, and numerous outdoor tours. It’s also home to the Historic Downtown Mall that is eight blocks in length—one of the longest pedestrian malls in the United States. Rural living is also a major perk.
Most of the movement within the area is for the University of Virginia. Located in Charlottesville, UVA is an iconic public institution of higher education, boasting nationally ranked schools and programs, diverse and distinguished faculty, a major academic medical center, and proud history as a renowned research university.
“The one thing I am the most proud of is being the first New Again Houses® Franchise Owner,” Eric said. Eric helped develop the beginning stages of the Franchise model while he was still living in Bristol, and the pilotted the program when he moved to Charlottesville, VA in 2018.
Reading is one of the major ways Eric finds time to relax. He also enjoys any activities outside, including biking and camping.
We asked Eric what his promise is to potential sellers when they contact him. His response was, “My personal guarantee is that I will be honest with them and do my best to involve them as much as possible in the process.”
In light of doing business with integrity, we asked Eric about one of his favorite interactions with someone he worked with to sell their home. “This seller had contacted over the summer months and I spoke with her about the situation she was in,” Eric said. She was living in a small house and was wanting to upgrade to something larger.”
“I walked through the house with her and then let her know about what I could pay for the house. She used this information to determine her budget and started looking for something larger. About 6 months later she called me again and wanted to move forward with the sale because she had found a new house and put it under contract.”
Closing on your timeline is something that New Again Houses® always strives to do. “This one needed to close before the purchase happened, so we moved quickly to get everything done in time so she would have the proceeds from the sale for her new down payment. She was happy with how everything turned out in the end, and she got into the new house that she wanted.”
Honesty is a key value for Eric & his business. A recent seller said, “He was very personable, answered any questions for us that we had and also dealt with the owners for us. He was super nice and very upfront about everything. He made our selling the house a breeze, and when he was done renovating it, he even was awesome enough to let us come see it. I would recommend 100%.” (Ashley D.,Google Review)
